The best way to stay fresh is to create your own stuff and do what you really want to do with your career after everything you have learned and experienced all these years.

It doesn’t matter how good or bad or weird your stuff is. Just share it online. People will still check them out and there will be a group of people in the world who dig your stuff!

One of my creative triggers is being on a road trip. There’s that sense of serenity on the road which helps me to come up with new ideas.

One of my friends then commissioned me to draw a character of her in the same style that I drew the hijab girl. So I did. She then paid me 5 bucks for it. ... That’s when I knew, you can actually get paid doing art or design!

We believe that if you don’t like something and leave it hanging without any reason, it will become an argument. But if you tell the reason to how we could make it better and how we can fix it, you could find that common ground together.

JAN URSCHEL

It is okay to give up but only when you realize that it is not what you want to do in life. Don’t give up simply because it is difficult. Because as stupid as it sounds, anything in life that is worth doing is freaking difficult.

Do not spend too much time learning software. Learn the fundamentals first. If there is a power outage and you can’t use your fancy 3D programme anymore, you will still need to be able to design. You have pen and paper. That should be enough for you to be able to express your idea.
— Jan Urschel
Personal work holds a great importance because of two factors. First of all, you can release it right away and that’s how you can build your audience without relying on clients for permission. Secondly, it is aligned to your vision.
